Tasking Mins 29/01/15

Posted on Updated on

The main priority on the Tyburn ward for this month is as follows….

There is local concern surrounding the boy racers around the Fort Parkway on a Sunday.  Please be assured that West Midlands Police are taking this seriously and the Birmingham North Community Action Priority Team (CAPT) are conducting operations in order to tackle the problem.  This mainly consists of drivers being verbally warned, ticketed, Section 59 warnings issued and where appropriate arrests will be made.

For your information, a Section 59 warning is issued to the driver, but also to the vehicle if a vehicle is seen to be driven in an anti-social manner and is ALSO committing a road traffic offence of careless & Inconsiderate driving.  Once issued, if the driver (even if in another vehicle) or the vehicle is seen again driving in an anti-social manner West Midlands Police will seize the vehicle.

Other concerns on the Tyburn ward are the bad parking and congestion caused on Wing Foot way due to cars parking on both sides which has restricted the road to a single lane.  There are long term solutions in place and West Midlands Police (WMP) and Birmingham City Council (BCC) are working together to resolve this matter. The short term solution will be that ‘NO PARKING’ cones are placed on one side of the road which will then make the road viable for two vehicles to pass without causing congestion. Police will still be issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) to any vehicles parked inappropriately, can I please make you aware abandoning your vehicle on a cycle path, roundabout or a dual carriageway is a CRIME….

UPDATE: PC Butlin has been out on Wing Foot way and has put out red cones along a section of the cycle path, this has temporarily  helped de congest some traffic. PC Butlin is monitoring the parking whilst he is on duty and will not hesitate to issue FPN as he has been doing over the last few months. Since the cones have been put out all 30 have gone MISSING OR STOLEN…..

Costcutters on Farnborough Road Castle Vale have had a litter bin donated to them by BCC in order to keep the area clean and tidy. The bin will be put in place very soon…

UPDATE: R.Miller from CVCHA has told the group that an external agency WILL will be trimming back the trees. Mr Wick Reed WILL be removing the rubbish on the car park besides Costcutter on Farnborough Road. All the shops on this section will be getting a visit from a friendly Environmental officer reminding them about their lease hold terms and conditions  in relation to maintenance. THIS TASK HAS NOW BEEN COMPLETED

Lynda Clinton mentioned that the Local residents are very concerned with the behaviour of foreign national HGV drivers parking on Wood lane causing a nuisance with their behaviour. The rubbish, litter and human waste left behind is very unpleasant and upsetting….Also the parking around that vicinity in general was a issue….

Happy days

FINALLY…..

The other major concern we have on the Tyburn ward is the inappropriate waiting on a red route this namely being the Tyburn Road just after the Tyburn island. This is mainly caused by drivers waiting to park which in turn restricts a 40mph dual carriage way into one lane. This has a major effect on other road users and has caused several near miss accidents. Car and lorry drivers are swerving out at the last minute to avoid hitting the stationary cars. This is VERY dangerous to any road user as a HGV collision can be very impactive and can be life changing specially if you are a motorbike rider.

UPDATE: This is now being monitored and WMP and JLR are working together to sort the issues out…Work in the pipe line.

Urban Devotion will be putting up football goal posts into Rookery Park in the next couple of months. It is suggested the goal post are put by the Tennis courts awaiting further news.

20 MPH Zone on Castle Vale

Please be careful when entering Castle Vale as it is a 20 MPH zone….Even residents on the estate seem to be unaware of this…
